Obituary for Robert James Dove

Robert Dove, 71, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, due to health complications, at his home in Manassas, VA. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on in Fairfax, VA, to Wilfred and Theresa Dove and lived in VA most of his life. Robert worked as an auto body man, heavy equipment over the road driver, and later an auto parts driver.

He loved to fish down at Lake Anna and passed this hobby down to his grandkids and great-grandkids. In his younger years he loved to build race cars. He loved to tell his stories of back in the day about his cars. His knowledge of cars was just amazing of everything he could do or fix.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti Dove and her husband Robert Estes; Grandson, Jason and his dog, Old Man Gizzy.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley of Manassas; 3 daughters, Shirley Burkett & husband Donald of Culpeper, Theresa Dove & Rickey of Fredericksburg, and Sam Brown & Big Dave of Manassas; brother, George and his wife Joanie of Vienna; best friend, Eddie Evatt of Mineral, VA; dogs, Scooby and Griffy and his 11 grandkids and 18 great-grandkids (with another on the way) who were very special to him and he was very proud of.

A very special thank you to our dad for always being there for us and anyone else who needed him to be there.

You will always be DB and Maggot’s idol.
